The ranch is located 75 miles Northwest of Billings, 120 miles Northeast of Bozeman, 72 miles South of Lewistown, 15 miles East of Harlowton, and 1.5 miles east of the town of Shawmut, Montana.  It lays in both Wheatland and Golden Valley counties.

The Tipi Ring Ranch is composed of two contiguous ranches, Rimrock (6,733± acres) and Barber Valley (4,083± acres). The Barber Valley Ranch also has 320± acres under State Lease.  Together, they total 10,816± acres and straddle both Wheatland & Golden Valley Counties.

• The combined ranches are currently running 250 pair of cattle year ‘round and 500 yearlings for 6 months, with good management. The grass and farm land are fenced into 33 pastures.

• 2,284± acres are in dryland alfalfa.  The alfalfa is on a 50/50 cropshare basis with a neighbor. Over the years, the dryland hay yields ½ to ¾ ton/acre.

• In 2011, 1,000± acres have been seeded to wheat.  There is a possibility that the crop can be purchased, if the ranch sale closes prior to harvest. Wheat historically averages 30 bu/acre.  Winter wheat averages 35 bu/acre, with a summer fallow/crop rotation.

• The ranch participates in the Conservation Reserve Program (C.R.P.), as well as the Direct Counter Cyclical Program.

• There are 9 springs, 2 reservoirs and 8 wells (5 solar-powered) supplying stock water. A new water pipeline was recently constructed that runs from the Headquarters area to the Antelope Road solar well and tank. This improvement allows for the use of this tank when the sun is not shining enough to produce adequate water for the herd.
